Jonny Blair (he/him) is an emerging Scottish/Irish filmmaker. His debut short film THE GROUNDSMAN starred David O’Hara (The Departed) and screened at festivals worldwide before winning the Best Film award at the BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards.

 

Jonny went on to complete an MA in Directing Fiction at the National Film and Television School. His crime/thriller graduation film COME OUT OF THE WOODS starred Joe Dempsie (Toxic Town) and Nico Mirallegro (Stags), it was nominated for a Royal Television Society award.

 

Jonny’s work has also extended to television, where he is a regular director on RIVER CITY, the BBC Studios and BBC Scotland continuing drama. In 2025 he directed an action-packed series finale. As a writer, Jonny was recently selected onto the prestigious BBC Writers Scottish Voices scheme.

 

This year Jonny will make his feature film directorial debut with WALK WITH ME, a folk horror set in the Scottish Highlands. The film will star Emily Carey (House of the Dragon), Suki Waterhouse (Daisy Jones & The Six), and Claes Bang (Bad Sisters), and is produced by Silver Reel and HanWay Films.
