Jonny Blair (he/him) is a Scottish–Irish filmmaker whose work spans film and television.

 

His debut short, The Groundsman, starred David O’Hara (The Departed) and screened at festivals worldwide, winning Best Film at the BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards.

He went on to complete an MA in Directing Fiction at the National Film and Television School. His graduation crime-thriller, Come Out of the Woods, starred Joe Dempsie (Toxic Town) and Nico Mirallegro (Stags), and was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award.

Jonny is a regular director on the BBC Studios / BBC Scotland drama River City, where he recently helmed a high-stakes series finale and earned his first writing commission.

He was recently selected for the BBC Writers Scottish Voices scheme and currently has multiple film and television projects in development.

 

Jonny has just wrapped as Second Unit Director on Counsels for Balloon Entertainment and BBC Scotland / BBC One.

 

He is a member of BAFTA Connect and Directors UK.
